and what is the exceeding
greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his
great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and
seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, Eph 1:19-20
Recently, during a dream I heard
and audible voice say “Ephesians-the breakfast of champions.” Since that time I
have been seeking – searching out this book to discover what it is that the Lord
wants to reveal to me and I also believe that this little book is “the”
book for the remainder of my life. While
meditating on the scripture above I began to see that God wants me to know and
understand this same exceeding great
power that He used when He raised Christ from the dead. I was struck with the realization that the
only way that I would come to know, understand, and experience His resurrection
power would be for there to be a need for its manifestation-demonstration to be
made known. This means that there would
need to be a great loss-death. Death in such a manner as to cause one to lose
all hope, to become totally disillusioned, the loss of dreams-expectations, the
shattering-crumbling of one’s world, becoming over whelmed with fear, grief, and
or feelings of failure. An experience where one goes from being enraptured with
great joy, delight, exuberance, and then suddenly plummeting into the deepest
darkness ever with no hope of deliverance.
If I were one of the disciples during the days of Jesus I believe that I would have experienced some of those very feelings/thoughts from the time of the last supper up till the time that Jesus appeared in the room where they were all gathered together locked behind closed doors for fear, dread, dismay, disillusionment, despair, and in fact fearing for their lives because they were followers of Jesus Christ. That interval of time between Jesus’ capture in the garden and His resurrection had to have been the darkest, most despairing, hopeless, time in the lives of His disciples. Those who had walked so closely with him, those who had experienced such unimaginable and astounding deeds and seen such mighty miracles to the point where it is stated that were they all written in a book the world could not contain them, those who each perhaps had their own ideas of how and what things were going to be like when the Lord Jesus would begin to reign, rule, and establish Himself as King. Those disciples who had walked so closely to truth and life that as far as they were concerned there was nothing and no one else, (Joh 6:67 So Jesus said to the Twelve, "Do you want to go away as well?" Joh 6:68 Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom we shall go? You have the words of eternal life), then for it all to be snatched away in a matter of hours, their whole world crumbled. Of course one would say but they were told by Jesus that His death would occur, they were told that He would be raised up in 3 days, and that they should have understood and not wavered or doubted. It is so easy to sit back upon reading their story and say what they should or should not have done, said, or felt. I refuse to take that position or voice that opinion because I have learned from experience that the same road that they walked is a required road in the school of training and the tools of His trade are the same for such a one who is chosen to follow Jesus in this day and age. He is the same today as He was yesterday. The good of it all is that their reunion with Jesus after His resurrection was not one of rebuke. He did not enter into the room with scolding eyes or a condescending tone. He did not chastise them for their failure to believe. Instead of causing them to feel even more defeated, oppressed, and depressed, He brought light into their darkness. He restored their courage. He restored their hope. His presence raised them up out of the bondage of fear and soon catapulted them into great faith. Had they not each had their own personal experience of defeat / death for example, Peter and his denial, Thomas and his doubt, and let’s not forget how they all fled from the garden there would have been no need or opportunity for a manifestation of the power of God’s resurrection. The presence of the resurrected Lord revived, restored, reconciled, redeemed, all hope and more.
This journey has cost me greatly
and I too, like the disciples, find myself locked behind a door of despair. My
companions have been those of hopelessness, defeat, oppression, depression,
ridicule, fear, lost friends, dreams, expectations, simply put, a
shattered-crumbled world. But all is not
lost because had I not entered into this classroom-school of training, I would
not have the opportunity to experience or witness the exceeding greatness of His power to
those who believe! AND I DO!!!!!
But he said to me, "My
grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.
“Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power
of Christ may rest upon me. 2Co 12:9
The Bible says we are to taste
and see that the Lord is good. I believe that cloaked within this good is a bitter herb (Exo 12:8). Jesus, Himself, while on
the cross endured the bitter-ness (as
the sacrificial Lamb) as required of Him by the Father in order to fulfill God’s
purpose on the earth. The disciples had
to endure the bitter-ness of His
death those three days that they were separated from Him. And I am enduring this bitter-ness which is before me during this journey for a season. BUT,
I am guaranteed resurrection because Jesus
LIVES, I live! The same power
that raised Him from the dead, the same resurrected LORD who came into the room
where they were has come into my room. I will live and not die in defeat or
despair and declare the goodness of the LORD in the land of
the living.
that I
may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings,
becoming like him in his death,Php 3:10
